Lisa Daugherty, E-CYT 500, CPYT, Doula

Program Director, Lead Trainer, Prenatal Yoga Teacher, Holistic Childbirth Educator, Doula, Somatic Yoga Teacher

Lisa Daugherty, Executive Director of Heartland Mindfulness Collective, is a mother of four and has been a yoga teacher and a doula in Indianapolis for 20 years. She is a 200 hour CYT and has taught yoga to thousands of people, using a variety of styles and techniques including stress relief yoga, prenatal yoga, vinyasa and yin yoga and many more. She also practiced and taught yoga throughout her pregnancies.

Her doula experience and training came from working as a birth assistant for homebirth midwives in Tucson, Arizona. Lisa became deeply interested and invested in the midwifery model of care and informed consent, and went on to have 4 home births, all attended by lay midwives. She began attending births as a doula in 1998 and has since attended over 100 births in a variety of settings, hospitals, birth centers and home births. She stayed connected to the Indy birth community working for several years as Communications Coordinator, working closely with Certified Nurse Midwives, Registered Nursed and Certified Nurse Midwives, Registered Nurses, and Certified Medical Assistants, and Sacred Roots, Indy’s only freestanding birth center.

She is continuously mesmerized and inspired by a pregnant person's capacity to incubate and bring forth new life, often in a deeply personal, physical, emotional and spiritually transformative way.
