Our Mission
Our mission and goal is to educate teachers & students about pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum by providing personalized and heart centered care to a large and diverse population. Focusing outreach in communities that experience poor health outcomes, we hope to have an impact and improve the health of people in our own Indiana communities. We feel that teaching Prenatal Yoga, providing childbirth education and having a strong sense of community are a part of the solution to the nation’s crisis in rising maternal and infant mortality rates, unnecessary c-sections and other unnecessary interventions. In 2020 Indiana had 117.1 per 100,000 births, twice the national average, being even higher in obstetric deserts in surrounding counties and continues to rise. The Indiana Maternal Mortality Committee reported its highest pregnancy-associated death rate yet, with 117.1 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births in 2020 disproportionately (up to four times as likely) in the black and brown population. Recognizing that birth is a powerful and life changing process we encourage and support childbirth education, self advocacy, and empowering birthing people so they can make informed choices. While these statistics and numbers can feel overwhelming and dismal at times offering Prenatal Yoga is one way that we hope to contribute to change. Birth can be powerful and joyous. Yoga can be conscious activism.
